STS 105, designated as mission number 105 by NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration), refers to a space shuttle mission launched on July 22, 2001. The mission was conducted using the orbiter Discovery, which carried a crew of seven astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS). This marked the first flight since the loss of Columbia during STS-106 and also represented the second visit by a U.S. space shuttle to the ISS following its completion in late 2000. The primary objectives of STS 105 were to deliver supplies and equipment, including the Expedition 3 crew members, and to prepare the ISS for the arrival of additional components. This mission concluded on August 7, 2001, upon the safe return of the Discovery spacecraft to Earth.
