Description:
Known for their 1978 debut single "DRIVER'S SEAT," which was featured in the movie "Boogie Nights," this London pub rock/modern pop combo was a unique force in the NW era, digesting their roots in folk, country, rock 'n' roll, and R&B, This is the second solo album by PAUL ROBERTS, a core member of SNIFF 'N' THE TEARS, released in 1987.Co-produced by engineer PHILL BROWN, who has worked with ROLLING STONES, BOB MARLEY and HARRY NILSSON, the album also features BAKERLOO~HUMBLE PIE guitarist CLEM CLEMPSON and other British session members as on the first solo album. The album features the same British session members as on the first album. This is the very 2nd album where you can enjoy PAUL's wrinkled yet relaxed vocals amidst the ironclad performance. The album is even more relaxed and refined than its predecessor, with funky rollicking "Working for the Goodtimes" and "The Hand of Fate," "Kettle Drum Blues," which features some great slide work by CLEM CLEMPSON, "The Referee," a supreme ballad that was supposed to be a single cut, "What Love Is," and "Out of the Blue," a simple British pop song, "What Love Is," and "Reggae," which was supposed to be a single cut. The ballad "THE REFUGEE", a supreme ballad sung quietly, the simple British pop "OUT OF THE BLUE", "WHAT LOVE IS", the reggae-tinged "AWAY TOO LONG", and many more...all songs are funk, pop, adult, twisted and legitimate in one, even though they are not so plain. The songs are funk, pop, adult, and have a British Rock feel with a twist and an authenticity. The female chorus is as beautiful as ever, and the arrangement is right on the money.
