The Robert Picault ramekin, in Vallauris ceramic dating from the 1950s, is a remarkable piece which testifies to the exceptional know-how of the French ceramist. This beautiful object, which can be used as a storage compartment, ramekin or bowl, is in superb condition for its age. Picault, who developed a personal style inspired by the Muslim Middle Ages, was able to combine his influences while creating geometric patterns in duotones, notably in shades of blue, manganese and green. Working closely with legendary artists like Picasso and Roger Capron, he marked his era with his unique creations. Pieces signed "Picault" in full are particularly prized, while later industrial models bear the "RP" mark. This ramekin therefore constitutes an authentic testimony to 20th century ceramic art on the Cte d'Azur.
