The 502nd Air Base Wing is a unit of the United States Air Force, primarily responsible for the operation, oversight, and management of Air Force facilities and resources at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and the surrounding region. Established in 1976 as part of the reorganization of the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), the wing reports to the Air Mobility Command. Its mission encompasses various activities including airfield management, emergency services, personnel and logistics support, and base defense operations. The 502nd ABW is an integral part of the larger military community at Fort Campbell, working in close coordination with other branches of the U.S. Armed Forces stationed there to ensure effective and efficient execution of their collective mission.
