A fine late 18th-century George III period mahogany washstand. The square top is pierced to accommodate a washbowl, originally intended for a pottery jug and basin. It now features a removable boarded mahogany top. The stand includes an arched frieze, a lower shelf over a single drawer, and a repeated frieze below. It stands upon chamfered legs united by elegant bowed stretchers with a central circular shelf to hold the water jug. This Georgian washstand is in good condition with beautiful figuring to the mahogany and a good original patina. The single drawer is also a useful addition. England, circa 1790.
